Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Southeastern Michigan has received the Charles A. Mullan Award from ABC National. The Mullan Award is awarded to one chapter in various size categories for membership numbers and total amounts of dues collected.

“We have worked tirelessly to keep our members’ needs met in an unprecedented year,” said Keith Ledbetter, President and CEO of ABC SEMI. “It has been all hands-on-deck to help our members navigate these trying times. I credit our entire team for stepping up and making this recognition happen — without everyone playing their roles we cannot possibly achieve this type of recognition.”

Vice President Mickey Mortimer was on hand to receive the award during the Association Excellence Awards Luncheon, which is part of the ONE Conference, on Thursday, May 6 in Indianapolis.

“It was a real honor we were one of only three chapters to get all of the membership-related awards and the Mullan,” said Mortimer. “It is always nice when the hard work of your team is recognized and we certainly share this with our staff and more importantly our members, who are the life blood of our association. Without them, this would all be meaningless.”

The award comes on the heels of an excellent membership year in 2020. The chapter finished with 258 members and nearly 91% retention. This resulted in the membership “trifecta” award from ABC National, which requires retention higher than 90%, in addition to net growth in membership and a membership goal set by the chapter.

ABC of Southeastern Michigan is hoping to continue the success. So far in 2021, the chapter has reached 83% retention, which means nearly eight in ten members have renewed their membership. The chapter has also added 13 new members thus far in 2021.
