30 Years of Putting Customers First

When Michael Garrett started with Sutton Leasing, he never imagined that it would become the rewarding career it has, but 20 years later he still loves his job.

“Every day it is something different,” Garrett explained. “I might be delivering a new panel van to a contractor customer, or a sports car—even a tractor—I love the diversity of my day and this job. We don’t limit ourselves or our customers on what they need. Being able to offer such a broad and extensive product line really makes us both a professional and personal one-stop shop for customers when they are looking to lease or buy a vehicle.”

Sutton Leasing was founded in 1989 by Clyde J. Sutton. Sutton always stressed “service first” throughout the fifty years he has been in the business—which includes executive positions with Ford Motor Company, McCullough Leasing (now GE Capital Fleet Services), and Southeast Toyota, in addition to owning a GM franchise. Mr. Sutton continues to serve as President and CEO, and actively manages the business, and continues to stress the importance of service to his employees.

“Service is what sets us apart from our competitors,” said Garrett. “We literally go the extra mile to meet their needs. Often it only takes a phone call to let us know what they are looking for and it can be acquired and delivered directly to their doorstep with little or no trouble. We are fortunate that we are not limited by a product or company—we can offer all makes and models to our clients and offer much more attractive and reasonable financing than the major dealerships can.”

For more than a decade Sutton has been a member of ABC SEMI and served our contractor members well when expanding their fleet or finding that difficult to find vehicle. Garrett said he loves taking the hassle out of purchasing or leasing a vehicle for his fellow ABC members.

“Contractors are a busy group of guys,” said Garrett. “They have specific needs and often need a vehicle quickly to accommodate a particular job or replace one of their current fleet vehicles. I make sure we get them not only the best vehicle we can, but make sure the lease or purchase works within their budget. I am proud of our ongoing relationship and have enjoyed providing trucks, equipment and even personal vehicles for ABC members.”
